Following on from this week’s first aid blogs on strokes in which we covered the types of strokes there are and signs and symptoms of a stroke. This final first aid blog looks at First Aid Treatment.

First Aid treatment for a potential stroke casualty   

  • Urgent removal to hospital – dial 999 now!
  • Monitor Airway and Breathing
  • Monitor vital signs

If the casualty is conscious …..

  • Sit up
  • Reassure (Remember the casualty maybe confused and unaware of what is happening)

If the casualty becomes unconscious

  • Recovery Position
  • Monitor
